Finally working again

Hey everyone!

We’re out in the woods again, to rescue some old stuff we never got around to fixing, and try to find something new out here.

So far we’ve stumbled upon a couple of new riffs, parts of songs, and as I write this Carl is sitting beside me playing an electric piano to trying to rebuild a bridge which has’netreally been working out as he would like.
It’s raining like crazy here so there’s not really much else to do than play. Kept at it til 6am this morning, it’s funny how sleep deprivation helps creativity.

Things you do not want to happen a few days before a gig…

…is for example when you find out that your Leslie cabinet (amplifier for my organ, gives the “rotating” sound) has stopped to rotate. Suddenly all the hammond-magic is gone and there is no time to repair the engine….

This happened yesterday and after rehearsing the Sunday evening set, we all had to pretend that we were engineers and solve the mysterious Leslie problem. Here is a picture of what it looked like:

Luckily, I have been thinking for almost 1.5 years that I should sell my old Leslie without actually selling it and we managed to get it to work with the Hammond B3 so no one should be disappointed on Sunday. I hope I see you all there? At the bar after the show as usual

Over n out

We’re back - again!

It’s finally time for us to break yet another long period of silence. After the hard blow of two drummers quitting in a row we’re ready to get back in the game again! We start off with a gig at Diamond Dogs in Göteborg, Sunday August 19. Save a couple of bucks by buying tickets from us directly, but you could also pay at the door.

So what have we been doing all summer? Apart from from the regular summer vacations and band members traveling, we’ve both been rehearsing old songs with Jocke and writing some new material. Come to the gig and you’ll get to hear some new stuff!

See you there!

Celebrating the bands 4th birthday! (…and Jonas 27th)

As you might know, the band Sparris (which later became TMC) was born one very very late morning at the camp site of Hultsfredsfestivalen by myself, Jonas and Petter 4 years ago. Tobias and Olof joined the band the following months.

Now it is once more time to go back to this historical ground and celebrate the birthday of The Milestone Corporation! In a few hours, me and Petter will enter a pick up truck and head down there to face whatever challenge that might await us. As usual, we will work as security guards at Teaterladan (eftersom vi värnar om kidsen…)

I would also like to express my congratulations to our fearless guitarist who now enters the dangerous and wonderful rock’n'roll age of 27. And so should you!

I will see you soon. Take care

A new drummer!

As many of you know, our beloved David Magnusson played his last gig with us at the Chalmers Cortege Festival, April 25. His other band, Irene, is having a lot of success and between the touring with the band and his studies he just didn’t have time to play with us anymore. We wish him a life of rock n roll stardom with Irene!

This was of course a big loss for us, but it didn’t take long until we found a guy that will take over where David left, a drummer that surely will keep us rockin and add new, brilliant sides to TMC. His name is Joakim Axelsson and you can see his pretty face in the picture.

Jocke

He has played with a bunch of bands before, and musically he fits perfectly in the TMC sound. With him in the band we now can resume our song writing at full speed and hopefully you will see us soon at a stage near you.
Watch out for new stuff!

/Jonas

Statement to the world of music

Hello dear TMC friends,

The past month or so we have focused a lot on reaching out to the world with our new EP, ‘Songs About Steven’. The response so far has been generally very positive which is truly wonderful, but I still feel like it is time for a statement regarding our music and ‘music genres’ in particular:

- The Milestone Corporation is a band of great musical diversity. If someone requires us to put a label on our music, ‘rock/pop’ is the closest common factor. This doesn’t mean that we only aim at creating pop influenced rock music. We write good music. Period. A good example of this is our latest EP SAS where ‘pop’, ‘rock’, ‘emo’, ’ska’ and a ‘ballad’ are all equal parts of a TMC record.

- We think that anyone can enjoy good music. At least we do. This is why we will not limit our music to one unanimous music genre. In the modern world of today, should it really be impossible for one person to love ‘5 Minutes Alone’ (Pantera), ‘Michael’ (Franz Ferdinand), ‘Fix You’ (Coldplay) and ‘Hallelujah’ (Leonard Cohen/Jeff Buckley) and still be considered a musically educated person?

- Looking towards the future, we will continue to ‘flirt’ with different music genres. The core of TMC’s music will always be pop and rock but regarding the shape, refer to it as the ‘TMC sound’ or more simply put, good music.

My final words are these:

When you are low; Say adios, light a cigarette, put on your headphones and listen to ‘Tail Lights‘ (from Songs About Steven). It is a true cure, trust me. Over and out.

Just to paraphrase the title of an old Smiths’ song…
1st of May is hung over, as always. There are some new photos of the band to check out at

The new EP is out!

Yes, it’s finally here!

Our new EP Songs About Steven is available for downloading here on the hompage, on last.fm, on myspace and on a bunch of other sites around the world. If you want your very own Songs About Steven CD, go to the shop and order it!
We also thought it was time to give the homepage a new look-and-feel when releasing this EP. Hope you like it :)

This is not all though. As you may have seen on the gigs page already, we will be playing the Chalmers Cortege Festival this year again. This time we’ll be playing Wednesday night, and it’ll be even better than last time! We hope to see many of you there.

Cheers!
